🐾 Major’s Story
The First Dog Helped By Odinn’s Legacy CIC
Major was found when he was only two weeks old in an extremely poor condition. The trauma and neglect he suffered at such a young age left him with brain damage, complete blindness in one eye and limited vision in the other.
Despite everything he had endured, Major remained a happy and loving dog. His owner, Anna, wanted to ensure he was not suffering and could enjoy the best quality of life possible.
The only way to find answers was through an MRI scan costing £1,600. Together with supporters and fundraisers, Odinn’s Legacy CIC raised the money needed to make that happen.
The results brought wonderful news. Although Major had faced significant challenges in life, he was not suffering. He was simply experiencing the world in his own unique way.
Major became the first dog helped directly through Odinn’s Legacy CIC and his story continues to inspire everything we do today.
🐾 Bear’s Story
Bear’s journey was not an easy one. Like many of the dogs we meet through rescue, he arrived needing patience, understanding and a chance to start over.
Despite his difficult past, Bear quickly showed everyone what a wonderful dog he truly was. Beneath his large frame was a gentle, affectionate companion who simply wanted to feel safe and loved.
Through the dedication of rescue volunteers and foster carers, Bear was given the opportunity to rebuild his confidence and learn what it meant to be part of a family.
As Bear settled into foster care, his personality began to shine. He formed strong bonds with the people around him and proved that every dog deserves the chance to be judged by who they are, not by the circumstances they came from.
Eventually Bear found the loving forever home he deserved, beginning the next chapter of his life surrounded by comfort, security and love.
🐾 Max’s Story
Back On His Paws
Max was a fun-loving Husky with endless energy. He loved nothing more than running, playing and enjoying life to the fullest.
Sadly, during one of his adventures, Max began experiencing problems with his leg. A visit to the vet revealed the cause of the pain: a cruciate ligament injury.
To give Max the best chance of recovery, surgery was needed. The operation would cost £1,400, a figure that was simply beyond the reach of his family at the time.
Determined to help, Odinn’s Legacy and our supporters set out to raise the funds needed for Max’s operation. Thanks to the generosity of our community, the target was reached and Max was able to undergo the surgery he desperately needed.
Following a period of rest, rehabilitation and lots of love, Max made an excellent recovery.
Before long, he was back to doing what he loved most, running around, enjoying life and showing everyone that he hadn’t lost his zest for adventure.
🐾 Diesel’s Story
Fighting For A Pain-Free Future
Diesel’s troubles began when he was just six months old. While out at the park he stood up against a gate to greet somebody. He yelped once, dropped back down and was suddenly unable to put weight on his leg.
He was rushed to the vet, but initially nothing obvious could be found. After seven days of rest and no improvement, further X-rays were carried out and revealed a badly deformed femur along with a fracture.
Diesel was referred to a specialist veterinary surgeon who performed corrective surgery. Everyone hoped this would finally put an end to the pain he had been experiencing.
Sadly, Diesel’s journey was far from over. As he grew older, his owner could hear and feel his kneecap dislocating every time he moved. Further investigations revealed multiple complications including a luxating patella, a kink in the bone, differing leg lengths and ongoing issues caused by the previous surgical hardware.
By two and a half years old, Diesel had spent almost his entire life living with pain. A specialist operation offered hope, but the cost of treatment was estimated at £4,000.
Determined to give Diesel a better future, his owner began fundraising and successfully raised £1,600. Odinn’s Legacy was proud to help support those fundraising efforts and contribute towards getting Diesel the treatment he desperately needed.
Diesel’s story reminds us why Odinn’s Legacy exists. Sometimes a family is doing everything they possibly can, but needs a little extra help to give their dog the chance of a happy, pain-free life.
🐾 Faith’s Story
A Determined Girl Who Refused To Give Up
Faith’s story began on the streets of Athens, where she was found alongside her siblings when she was only 8 to 10 weeks old. She had suffered severe injuries and was taken into rescue care, where her long journey to recovery began.
As Faith grew older, veterinary specialists discovered she had a fused and twisted spine. It is believed that these injuries may have been caused by trauma suffered before she was even born, possibly while her mother was carrying her.
When Faith eventually arrived at her forever home, she was underweight and clearly faced challenges that other dogs did not. Despite this, her family saw something very special in her and were determined to give her the best life possible.
Further examinations suggested Faith suffered from hip displacement and nerve damage, making running, playing and moving around extremely difficult.
Thanks to specialist mobility support and a specially adapted wheelchair, Faith was finally able to enjoy the freedom every dog deserves. She could run through fields, explore the outdoors and spend time with her sisters just like any other dog.
Faith’s journey is a powerful reminder that disability does not define an animal’s quality of life. With the right care, support and determination, dogs like Faith can continue to live happy, active and fulfilling lives.
🐾 Narla’s Story
Keeping A Family Together
Narla is an XL Bully type dog whose family faced an unexpected challenge following the introduction of new legislation affecting the breed.
Her owner had already spent significant amounts of money ensuring Narla was legally registered and met all of the new requirements. Unfortunately, after covering those costs there was simply not enough money left to pay for Narla’s neutering before the deadline.
Faced with an impossible situation and worried about what the future might hold, Narla’s owner reached out to Odinn’s Legacy for help.
Understanding how much Narla meant to her family, we were able to arrange and fund the procedure she needed. This ensured Narla remained compliant with the legislation and could continue living safely with the people who loved her.
Not every success story involves a life-saving operation or emergency treatment. Sometimes the greatest impact comes from helping a family overcome a financial obstacle before it becomes a crisis.
Thanks to the support of our donors and fundraisers, Narla was able to stay exactly where she belonged – at home with her family.
🐾 Lady’s Story
When Hope Seemed Lost
Lady’s owners contacted Odinn’s Legacy after she suffered a broken back leg.
They rushed her to the vets hoping there would be a way to get her the treatment she needed. Unfortunately, the cost of the operation was far beyond what they could afford, and Lady was sent home with pain relief while her family tried to find a solution.
Because they were working, they discovered that many of the organisations that offer financial assistance were unable to help. Every avenue they explored seemed to lead to another dead end.
Just when they felt there was nothing more they could do, somebody told them about Odinn’s Legacy.
They contacted us and we immediately set out to get Lady the help she needed. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Lady was soon able to have the operation that would change her life.
Following surgery and several months of recovery, Lady was back on her feet and enjoying life once again.
🐾 Koda’s Story
The Dog Who Chose Her Family
Koda’s story began when she was found wandering along a motorway. Alone, frightened and in poor condition, she was incredibly lucky to have been found before something far worse happened.
When Koda was rescued, it quickly became clear that she had suffered neglect. The collar around her neck was so tight that it had cut into her skin at both the top and bottom. It had become impossible to adjust and had to be cut off completely.
She was taken to the vet for treatment, where her wounds were cared for and a lump was removed. During her examination, evidence of previous abuse was discovered, including cigarette burns.
Understandably, it took a long time for Koda to learn to trust people again. Yet despite everything she had experienced, she showed remarkable kindness and seemed determined to move forward.
Almost immediately, she formed a special bond with Ewan. Nobody could have predicted just how important that relationship would become.
One day, Ewan experienced a severe anxiety attack. Without warning, Koda jumped onto his lap and began shaking. His focus instantly shifted from his anxiety to concern for Koda, bringing him out of the episode.
At first everyone thought it might simply have been a coincidence. But only a few days later, when another anxiety attack began, Koda responded in exactly the same way.
Time and time again Koda has shown an incredible ability to sense when support is needed. The frightened dog who was once abandoned and mistreated became a source of comfort, reassurance and strength for someone else.
Koda’s journey reminds us that rescue dogs are capable of far more than people often imagine. Sometimes the dog we save ends up saving us in return.
💙 The Legacy Continues
Every Story Started With A Second Chance
The stories featured on this page are just a small selection of the animals that Odinn’s Legacy has helped over the years.
Every dog, cat and animal whose life has been improved stands as a testament to the memory of Odinn and the kindness of the supporters, volunteers and fundraisers who continue to believe in our mission.
While many of these stories focus on dogs, our support has reached far beyond them. Along the way we have also helped several cats, a rat, a horse and many other animals whose owners simply needed a helping hand during difficult times.
Each success story represents more than financial support. It represents hope, compassion and a community coming together to give animals the care and opportunities they deserve.
And this is still only the beginning of Odinn’s Legacy.
There are more animals to help, more families to support and many more success stories waiting to be written.
